1. Introduction
ALERT is an emergency reporting, GPS navigation and community safety application. It enables users to create and receive incident alerts, view nearby risks on a map, share supporting media, use emergency features and manage personal safety settings.
By using ALERT, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We May Collect
2.1 Account and profile information
Depending on the registration method and features used, we may collect:
- First and last name
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Authentication and account identifiers
- Profile photograph
- User role or profession selected in the application
- Verification and account status information
- Emergency contact information provided by the user
2.2 Location information
ALERT may process location information to:
- Show your current position on the map
- Identify alerts located near you
- Calculate distance between users and incidents
- Provide navigation to a reported location
- Include a location in an alert or emergency request
- Support location-based notifications and safety features
Location access depends on your device permissions. Certain ALERT functions may not work correctly when location permission is disabled.
2.3 Alert and incident information
When you create or interact with an alert, we may process:
- Emergency or incident type
- Description of the situation
- Danger level
- Date and time
- Latitude and longitude
- Alert history and status
- User identifier connected with the report
- Information about whether an alert was viewed or acknowledged
2.4 Photos, videos and camera access
Users may choose to capture or upload photographs and videos as supporting information for an alert. ALERT accesses the camera, photographs or media library only when needed for a feature and when permission is granted.
Media submitted with an alert may be visible to other authorized users who can access that alert.
2.5 Microphone and voice information
ALERT may use microphone access for voice activation, emergency voice commands, scream detection, video recording or other hands-free safety functions.
Microphone access requires device permission. Audio processing may be performed only while a relevant feature is active, subject to device and operating-system behavior.
2.6 Device, notification and technical information
We may process technical information such as:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging notification token
- Device and operating-system information
- Application version
- Language and localization settings
- Diagnostic, performance and crash information
- Security and authentication events
2.7 Subscription information
If Premium subscriptions are offered, purchases may be processed by Google Play or Apple. ALERT may receive subscription status, transaction identifiers or entitlement information needed to activate Premium features.
ALERT does not receive or store your complete payment-card number when payment is processed by an app-store provider.
3. How We Use Information
Information may be used to:
- Create, authenticate and maintain user accounts
- Provide maps, location and navigation features
- Create, display and distribute emergency alerts
- Send nearby-alert and safety notifications
- Display photos, videos and alert details
- Provide SOS, emergency-contact and smart-protection functions
- Manage account verification and administrative controls
- Prevent misuse, false alerts, fraud and unauthorized access
- Provide Premium subscriptions and confirm access rights
- Diagnose technical problems and improve performance
- Respond to support, legal and safety requests
- Comply with applicable laws and valid legal obligations
5. Data Storage and Retention
ALERT uses cloud services, including Firebase services, to support authentication, database records, notifications and media storage.
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet safety and security needs, resolve disputes, enforce agreements and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Alert records, media and account information may remain stored until deleted by the user, removed by an administrator, expired under an applicable retention practice or deleted following a valid account deletion request.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, alteration, loss, misuse or disclosure.
No internet, mobile or cloud-storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users should protect their passwords, devices and verification codes and immediately report suspected unauthorized access.
7. Device Permissions
ALERT may request permissions including:
- Location: maps, nearby alerts and navigation
- Camera: capturing alert photos and videos
- Photos and media: selecting or saving media
- Microphone: voice commands, detection and recording
- Notifications: nearby alerts and account messages
- Telephone: initiating an emergency-contact call
You can manage permissions through your device settings. Disabling a permission may prevent the related feature from working.
8. Your Choices and Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request to:
- Access information associated with your account
- Correct inaccurate profile information
- Delete certain alerts, media or account information
- Withdraw optional permissions through device settings
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Receive information about how your data is handled
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
Some information may be retained when required for legal, security, fraud-prevention or legitimate safety purposes.
9. Children's Privacy
ALERT is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.
If you believe that a child has provided personal information improperly, contact us so that we can review and take appropriate action.
10. International Use
ALERT may be used in different countries. Information may be processed or stored in locations outside your country, subject to applicable law and the infrastructure of the service providers used by the application.
11. Third-Party Services and Links
ALERT may connect to third-party services such as map providers, app-store payment systems, telephone services or external links. Their privacy practices are governed by their own terms and policies.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to ALERT, legal requirements or privacy practices. The revised version will display a new effective date on this page.
Continued use of ALERT after an update means that the updated policy will apply to future use of the service, subject to applicable law.
